Caring for our Animals
NC livestock farmers follow animal care guidelines and industry specific quality assurance standards designed to ensure proper housing and care. These programs are science-based and designed with input from licensed veterinarians, nutritionists and other experts to ensure that animal care efforts are consistent with our moral obligation to provide safe housing, clean water, proper nutrition and medical care through all stages of the animal’s life.
To keep our animals safe and healthy, we provide our flocks and herds a safe place to live, protecting them from extreme weather, disease and predators, and a continuous supply of fresh water. We feed our animals nutritious, well-balanced diets and consult with veterinarians to maintain proper health. And we do not tolerate the mistreatment of abuse of our animals.
We do all of this because protecting and caring for our animals is our top priority. It’s not only the right thing to do, it also means safe, wholesome food for consumers.
